Ellen Lambert

Ellen is a Clinical Psychologist with an academic background in Experimental and Health Psychology. She completed her undergraduate degree at the University of Bristol and her master’s degree at University College London. Ellen began her postgraduate research career at the Institute of Psychiatry, Psychology & Neuroscience (IoPPN), King’s College London, where she contributed to BARIDEP, a PIXIE lab study investigating inflammation and depression in bariatric surgery candidates.

She later completed her Doctorate in Clinical Psychology at the IoPPN and has since worked within specialist NHS services for anxiety disorders and trauma. Alongside her research, she works as an Honorary Clinical Psychologist at the Centre for Anxiety Disorders and Trauma (CADAT), a national specialist service at the Maudsley Hospital that treats severe anxiety disorders and trauma, within the perinatal anxiety disorders stream. She also supervises trainees on the Doctorate in Clinical Psychology at King’s College London.

Ellen’s Wellcome Trust–funded research focuses on the unique mental health needs and psychological treatment of individuals experiencing psychiatric symptoms related to reproductive cycle transitions, including those with Premenstrual Dysphoric Disorder (PMDD) and Premenstrual Exacerbation (PME). Her PhD explores how inflammatory markers and psychological processes fluctuate across the menstrual cycle in individuals with high hormone sensitivity, such as those with PMDD.
